Introducing Discretix’ CPRM Solution
Q3 2008

Securing Premium Content over TI OMAP™ Platforms

Discretix will be demonstrating its uniquely cost-effective, high performance CPRM solution at the Texas Instruments booth at Wireless Japan 2008. The solution integrates Discretix’ CPRM Client software with TI’s OMAP™ 3 application processor, building on the proven track record of Discretix DRM solutions with TI’s M-Shield technology, a partnership established in 2006. The Discretix solution implements CPRM without the need for a dedicated CPRM hardware chip. The Discretix CPRM Client is part of Discretix’ Multi-Scheme DRM offering for mobile devices.

Robust CPRM Functionality

CPRM enables the recording and distribution of broadcast media, music and video content over memory cards and via download to mobile handsets. CPRM is deployed on all Secure Digital (SD) memory cards, representing more than 70% of the memory card market. The Discretix CPRM client is fully compliant with the robustness requirement of the 4C Entity. It can be used in parallel to other DRM schemes, providing the flexibility to address multiple standards on a single device.

The CPRM solution supports all the major mobile operating systems (Windows Mobile, Symbian, Linux, Nucleus, and others) using a thin software glue layer (Discretix Virtual Operating System). The Discretix CPRM client is optimized for power and performance, yielding an outstanding processing performance.

CPRM Use Cases

CPRM expands the range of options available to the consumer and MNO, by allowing content to be shared among multiple devices, and enabling a broad range of business models.

Audio: SD-Audio allows users to easily share music between any SD-Audio enabled device including phones, portable audio players, computers, car stereos and other mobile devices.

Video: SD-Video allows high quality video and Mobile TV (ISDB-T 1-Seg) to be securely recorded, captured and played back on any SD-Video enabled device, providing the device with PVR–like capabilities.

Over-the-air: Using SD-Binding, MNOs can bind audio, video and other content to their specific devices, enabling a broad range of business models.

Industry Alliances
